Where Do We Draw The Line?
Ever since the popular pop singer, Billie Eilish, revealed that at some point her only friends were her employees, a lot of questions were raised.
“Is friendship at work a bad thing?” was the #1 question.
To add to that, the CEO of Airbnb recently shared that a mistake he made in the past was thinking a company could be a family.
In his words: “No matter how much you like your colleagues, don’t think of your workplace as a family. You don’t fire members of your family”.
We've seen work relationships that led to amazing friendships, and even marriages sometimes. On the other hand, it's been terrible for others.
So, this is a question I'm throwing at you given you're in HR.
Where do we draw the line when it comes to having relationships at work? Or, better still, what's your unpopular opinion on this topic?
